Following the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake, Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), with support from Christian Aid and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), implemented emergency relief and early recovery activities for earthquake-affected communities in Sindhupalchowk and the Kathmandu Valley.

CEN reached 8 VDCs in Sindhupalchowk District, providing essential relief materials to affected households, including 3,941 shelter kits, 4,744 hygiene kits, and 4,144 food packages. Following a major aftershock, approximately 170 tents were also distributed in Masine Gaun and Chundevi to provide immediate temporary shelter to affected families.

As part of the recovery and safer reconstruction efforts, CEN organized a two-day Transitional Shelter (T-Shelter) training on 12–13 June 2015 in Thulopakhar VDC, Sindhupalchowk. The training focused on safe and earthquake-resistant shelter construction and was attended by 78 local people, including masons. The training supported a wider T-shelter programme targeting 960 households in Thulopakhar.

Relief materials were distributed across Pangretar, Thulopakhar, Lagarche, Golche, Barhabise, Takenpur, Selang and Gumsatar VDCs of Sindhupalchowk. CEN also supported the distribution of food and tarpaulins to 152 households in Dhakalchaur and Sallegaun VDCs (now part of Tarkeshwor Municipality).

The response was implemented in coordination with local communities, partner organizations and the Nepal Army, whose support helped facilitate the transportation and distribution of relief materials to earthquake-affected areas. The project contributed to immediate humanitarian relief, safer temporary shelter, community capacity building, and resilient recovery following the 2015 earthquake.
