Waste Management Training in Chitwan

In Chitwan, Clean Energy Nepal under the Youth Climate Catalyst programme supported by the UNDP Nepal supported a community-driven waste management initiative aimed at addressing the growing challenge of unmanaged solid waste in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Through school-level training, household engagement, and multi-stakeholder consultations, the project enhanced awareness and practical knowledge on waste segregation and composting among over 100 direct beneficiaries, including a significant number of women and marginalized community members. By linking grassroots action with municipal processes, the initiative also contributed policy recommendations for integration into local government planning. The project demonstrated how low-cost, community-based interventions can drive behavioral change while offering scalable solutions for sustainable urban waste management.
