Project
Background
The Sajha Yatayat
a public transport company started its operation
from 2019 B.S (1961) under the Cooperative Act
1959/60 (BS 2016). Sajha Yatayat is the first
leading institutional agency in the path of delivering
passenger bus services both in long and short
routes. Its financial strength continued
to depreciate due to losses in operation, among
others, that led to the closure of Sajha Yatayat
by the HMG. But The Sajha was again revived in
2060 by the goodwill of the Sajha itself and the
effort of the Sajha employees and Management.
Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) in partnership with "Friends
of Sajha", an informal group helping Sajha
revival, and the British Embassy implemented the
project "A New Direction for Sajha Yatayat"
in Sajha Yatayat (SY) to develop and extend the
SY as a model institution that is well-managed
and governed public transport entity The
major goal of the project is to help Sajha forge
a new direction and improve the organization in
terms of strategic planning, management, service
delivery, efficiency, transparency and profit.
The project assisted the current management of
Sajha in preparing a strategic business plan to
guide for its future development and is assisting
Sajha in its implementation. The project also
supported Sajha in providing clean and effective
public transportation in an organized manner to
lead the way in introducing environment friendly
technologies such as electric and CNG vehicles.

Background
Nepal,
being a Himalayan kingdom, is highly vulnerable
to the impacts of climate change due to its fragile
geological condition and ever changing mountain
ecosystem.
It is very essential to make people aware on the
issues of climate change. Although now-a-days,
we get to hear about climate change widely, it
is still a very abstract subject, even to the
experts who work with it almost everyday.
Young students have always been the focus in bringing
transformations and consciousness in the society.
They are one of the key stakeholders who work
as communication channels in spreading awareness.
Given proper guidance and inspiration, these young
students can become the major contributors in
minimizing the affects of climate change.
Objective
• To enhance the
understanding of climate change issues and its impacts
among young school students; • To motivate
school students in spreading out the message of
climate change issues among their family members
and peers – radiation effect; •
To encourage students to take action and present
their views on climate change at the national and
international arena.
