Promotional Event of Ktm Walks was Held at Kilagha

Along with the Kathmandu trinale art festival, promotional activities of ktm walks was held on Itumbahal of Killagal on Friday, 24th march, 2017 by the Ktm walks team. “KTM Walks” is a campaign to reclaim the streets occupied by vehicles and promote walking and cycling. The goal is to build more livable and humane city. The objective of the campaign is to restrict vehicles to enter the certain stretch, and the space is exclusively provided for the people so that they can enjoy the freedom of movement

Media Workshop on “Initiatives on Air Pollution Control” Held

Air pollution is yet to be prioritized as major public health issues and act accordingly. Realizing the media’s important role in raising public awareness Clean Energy Nepal, Clean Air Network Nepal in support with Nepal Forum for Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) organized a Media workshop on “Initiative on Air Pollution Control” to around 25 media person on 22 March 2017. The training workshop was conducted for journalists to increase their understanding of the issues and complexities surrounding air pollution, its sources and impacts, mitigations and data on air quality to convey to the public.

Community Awareness on Air Pollution Organized

With an objective to aware the community about air pollution, Drama entitled “Causes of Air Pollution and its Solution” was demonstrated at Mangalbazar, Lalitpur on Friday, 3rd March, 2017.Messages like Clean air right comes along with the responsibility for maintaining clean air from individual level was delivered by the drama.

Discussion Program on Should the Policy for Electric Vehicle and Petrol/Diesel Vehicle be the Same?

Putting mobility, accessibility and environment friendly and sustainability at the center an inclusive urban transport policy should be devised. Strategies, regulations and standards needs to be formulated to regulate, manage and promote public transportation. The government has decided to ban vehicles more than 20 years old from plying in Kathmandu Valley. In this context Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) conducted a dialogue amongst stakeholders to have a discussion on should the policy for electric vehicle and diesel/petrol vehicle be the same on 28 February 2017 at SAP Falcha, Babarmahal.

Workshop on “Climate Action Plan and Sustainable Development Goals” held

Climate change has already poses an additional challenge to development, especially to the Least Developed Countries and country with fragile geology like Nepal. Addressing climate change is an integral element of sustainable development policies. Strategies for sustainable development and climate change have many common elements, so addressing them jointly can create synergies. Implementation and success of the SDGs will rely on countries’ own sustainable development policies, plans and programmes. Governments will also need to develop their own national indicators to assist in monitoring progress made on the goals and targets.

Inter School Art Competition themed "Solution to Air Pollution" held

Air pollution is the major cause of environmental and public health crisis in Kathmandu Valley. According to report released by World Health Organization (WHO) 2016, the air quality of Kathmandu is five times worse than WHO recommended guidelines. Almost everyone is facing the problem of air pollution in Kathmandu Valley and it is an undeniable fact that air pollution has high public health cost and economic burden to families and as whole to our nation.

Maskmandu 2.0

Clean Energy Nepal together with Clean Up Nepal, YUWA and many other organizations organized “MASKMANDU2.0 : Clean Air Rally cum Talk Program” under I Care for Clean Air Campaign and Campaign for Clean Air Right(C-CAR) with an objective to draw attention of public and government towards the deteriorating air quality of Kathmandu Valley. It was a campaign, demanding our constitutional right to live in a healthy and clean environment as stated in Article 30 in the Constitution of Nepal 2072.

Clean Air Forum conducted in Pokhara

Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), Clean Air Network Nepal (CANN), Fredskorpset(FK) in collaboration with Pokhara Sub-metropolitian city jointly organized “2nd Pokhara Sustainable Urban Mobility Forum” as Pokhara Clean Air Forum on 27th December, 2016. The annual forum aimed to bring the stakeholders together to initiate policy dialogues enhance partnership and collaboration among stakeholders, and share initiatives and best practices on sustainable urban mobility for better air quality. This year the discussion was focused on need and importance of clean air in Pokhara.

City Certification Program Initiated in Kathmandu

Clean Energy Nepal and Clean Air Network Nepal together with Kathmandu Metropolitan city and Clean Air Asia organized a workshop on 29 November 2016 to support and recognize good environmental governance through clean air certification in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Around 30 participants from government agencies, non-government agencies, developmental agencies, and academia and air pollution experts participated in the workshop.

Virtual Sharing of COP22:

Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) organized Virtual Sharing of COP22: "Marrakech to Kathmandu" on Nov 17, 2016 at program hall of Clean Energy Nepal office. The program was coordinated by Rajan Thapa, Program Manager of CEN from Marrakech. In the program, Honorable Minister for Population and Environment Mr. Jaya Dev Joshi, Secretary of Ministry of Population and Environment, Dr. Bishwo Nath Oli, Under Secretary Dr. Ram Prasad Lamsal, President of Environment Protection Council Mr. Janak Raj Chaudhary and Program Manager of CEN, Mr Rajan Thapa shared their remarks. In Marrakech, the delegates including government officials, civil society organization representatives, media persons participated in the program in Marakech Morroco whereas civil society organizations representatives, youths and practitioners participated in the program in CEN.
