Green Discussion On AQM: What Is At Stake And What We Can Do?

Green Discussion held this Friday on September 9, 2011 in presence of more than 28 youths from different colleges was successful disseminating knowledge on facts about air quality, various ways of assessing air quality, overview of AQM needs and about prevailing research gap on AQM in Kathmandu valley.

As a part of the Green Discussion lecture series, an interaction on “AQM: What is at stake and what we can do?” was organized in the capital on 9th September, 2011 by Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA).  Ms. Amita Thapa Magar, Fk exchange program participant and the founder member of NYCA, gave a brief overview of the Air Quality Management needs in the Kathmandu Valley and the different methods related to AQM.

The program started with a general introduction of Air Quality of Kathmandu valley, the facts and the consequent health hazards. Ms. Thapa Magar then explained about the various ways of assessing the air quality and highlighted the biggest issue of our Air Quality Management (AQM), Data gap. Then the participants discussed on the needs and scopes of researches in AQM. Later, the youths also held a discussion on their perspective on the effects of Climate Change particularly on the Kathmandu Valley. The next Green Discussion is scheduled on 23 September, 2011.
