Eco Football Match 2011- Goal Against Climate Change Held

“Eco Football Match 2011- Goal against Climate Change” was successful in bringing the individual personalities of different sector in same platform to raise the voice of concern for our climate and environment and the well being here within. In order to mark the world Environment Day 2011, the event was organized on 5th June, 2011 at ANFA Technical Centre, Chyasal, Balkumari as the integral part of 2nd National Environment-Sanitation Week. 

Eco-Football match was organized between team A: comprising of policy makers, environmentalists and media and Team B: comprising of celebrities and artists. Team B won the match by 7-5. After full time ended with 3-3 draw, in 15 minutes of additional time, Team B scored 4 more goals to win it by 7-5. The match was very competitive whole time with lots of chances missed by both side. The event was held as a continuation of Eco-Football match 2009 and 2010. Giving the continuity to the trend of celebration of World Environment Day; main purpose of the event was to bring unity among people of different sectors involving the distinguished personality’s viz. Media Personalities, Climate Activists, Business Entrepreneur, Celebrities and Policy makers into one area and create awareness against climate change.

The results of Inter School Poem Competition organized as a part of 2nd National Environment-Sanitation Week was also announced on this occasion. Ritu Shah of Societal Higher Secondary School was awarded first prize, Prarthana Thapa of Little Angel School was awarded second prize and Lamhu Sherpa of Padmakanya School was awarded third prize. The theme for Inter School Poem Competition was “Forests: Nature at Your Service” which is the slogan for the World Environment Day 2011. 2nd National Environment-Sanitation week is being organized from June 1 to June 14 in joint collaboration of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action/Clean Energy Nepal and Paschim Paila/ENPHO. The series of events are being organized at regional level overall Nepal as a part of 2nd National Environment/Sanitation week.
